Student Success Specialist

About us

AdmissionPrep is a high-performance coaching company helping students take control of their post-secondary journey. We combine admissions expertise, academic skill development, and personalized mentorship to give students a competitive edge. We are looking for a Student Success Specialist for a joint role across our Student Success and Growth teams: part of your week is making sure every student who reaches us feels looked after, and part is planning and filming short-form video that educates and inspires students and families.

The details

  • Part-time employee position, 12 to 25 hours per week, with potential to scale hours during peak seasons.
  • Pay: $20 to $25 per hour, depending on experience.
  • Hours: student support is predominantly weekends. Content work follows a weekday cadence: filming, organizing, and uploading early in the week, scripting and planning later in the week.
  • Location: remote or from our Vancouver office, a co-working space shared with other Vancouver startups in Mount Pleasant (Canada-based applicants only; must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident).
  • Placement period: October through the end of your school year (April to May).
  • Eligibility: you must be a current university student. Our audience is students and parents aiming for top schools, and your on-campus perspective is part of what makes this role work.
  • Shortlisted candidates complete a short video creation test as part of the process.

Responsibilities

Student support

  • Answer student and family emails promptly, clearly, and warmly, and own each conversation through to resolution
  • Take and return phone calls from students and parents, handling questions about sessions, scheduling, and next steps
  • Keep our records accurate and current: session notes, contact details, scheduling changes, and follow-ups
  • Provide general administrative support to the Student Success team so advisors and tutors can focus on coaching
  • Notice where students get stuck or confused, flag patterns, and help improve how we communicate and onboard
  • Follow up proactively with students who have gone quiet, missed a session, or have an open question
  • Escalate anything time-sensitive or sensitive to the right advisor or manager

Content creation

  • Create high quality short-form content for TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube
  • Learn our brand, audience, and content frameworks
  • Attend weekly content planning and scripting sessions, and show up with ideas and hooks
  • Film 6 to 7 short-form videos per week
  • Organize and upload all takes the same day, following our naming conventions
  • Write a concise shoot report with timestamps of the best takes, and hand off cleanly to editors
  • Track deliverables in our content calendar and hit weekly targets reliably
  • Work with the team to iterate on hooks, angles, and calls to action based on performance

Qualifications

  • Current university student with a strong bias for action and ownership
  • Excellent written English: you can answer a worried parent or a confused student in a few clear, kind sentences
  • Confident and warm on the phone, comfortable de-escalating, and able to say what will happen next
  • Comfortable on camera and confident delivering scripted A-roll with clear audio
  • You love social media and trends, and you enjoy crafting content from hook to call to action
  • Familiar with TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts storytelling: hooks, pacing, and retention
  • Organized and reliable: you manage calendars, name files properly, keep a shared inbox under control, and meet deadlines
  • Comfortable learning a CRM, a shared inbox, and scheduling tools
  • Positive, coachable, and collaborative: you take feedback and ship improvements fast
  • Reliable weekend availability
  • Genuine interest in helping students succeed
  • No gear requirements

What you get

  • Learn from an organic social team generating over 1.5 million hits per month, and see how a content operation runs end to end, from ideation to production to performance
  • Playbooks, structured feedback, and hands-on coaching
  • Ship weekly and build a portfolio of real outcomes
  • A mission that matters: helping students unlock options for their future
